Many years of traveling and working on the African continent have taught me to appreciate the positive attitude of its residents towards life as well as their willingness and flexibility to develop themselves further despite sometimes very difficult circumstances.
The team at Palmato wants to pass on this energy and the pursuit of success. We want to encourage our customers to be innovative and do things differently.
We want to emphasize that it is worth digging deeper and looking below the surface. There are treasures to discover that remain undetected to those who only look at the big attractions.
The namesake of our business, the Palmato gecko, lives hidden in the giant sand dunes of the Namibian desert which at first glance, may seem absolutely hostile to life. Hardly any animal seems to be able to survive in the barren landscape. But that's not entirely true!
This small lizard, no longer than ten centimeters in size, delights all who discover it and shows us that it’s not only the famous sights that are worth seeing.
The colorful, iridescent Palmato gecko has several quirks that keep it alive in the desert.
Its feet are webbed to the tips of the toes. It enables the gecko to move through the loose sand quickly and without sinking in.
Its oversized eyes without eyelids not only ensure vision, but also serve to harvest moisture.
The Palmato gecko thickens the early morning mist with its large eyeballs, before licking the precious, thirst-quenching product with its long tongue, thereby also keeping its eyes clean and moist.
